Journey to IFO and Operational Discipline

The San Joaquin Valley Business Unit comprises approximately 1,200 employees and 2,900 business partners working together to produce oil and natural gas.  Our vision of Operational Excellence is to be world-class performers in health, environment, safety, reliability and efficiency.  Through Operational Discipline, we will create a workplace in which Incident Free Operations are achieved.

Operational Discipline is doing Every Task, the Right Way, Every Time.  We have many work groups and business partners that perform their work injury free, day in and day out – and more and more are doing so each year.  The similarities among these groups is their demonstrated leadership in adhering to safe work practices and behaviors.

The Contractor Health, Environment and Safety Management program is a core process and the foundation for establishing how Chevron will work with our business partners to achieve our goal of Incident Free Operations. The program provides guidance and requirements regarding job safety which supplements, but does not replace, the business partners' own safety and environmental policies and programs. Business Partners retain responsibility for performing their day-to-day operations injury free.

I expect every employee and business partner to return safely to their families and friends at the end of each day.  Let’s hold ourselves accountable for Operational Discipline. Accomplishing Every Task, the Right Way, Every Time is the framework for performing your job in a safe and responsible manner.
